Cantonese Lesson 1: about the language, basic greetings
Note: This was my very first podcast, use programs WinAmp for .ogg, if you want the .mp3 for this podcast, please visit http://cantonesepod.chinese-central.co.uk/
Search for CantonesePod in iTunes alternatively, get the chinese-central.co.uk one, not the podbean one.

Please leave a comment, as this is the only way that can motivate me to record more lessons and so that I can deliver lessons of better quality. Regards, Benson, owner of Chinese-Central.co.uk

I love your podcast, I hope there will be more lessons coming in. I certainly like the emphasis on grammar constructs (the use of question particles and so on). Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for your comment, since it was the first one, there is a lot of room for improvement. You can request some themes/topics, and then I will plan my release around them… (Ng goi = Thanks) Benson P.S. The bandwidth of this site is running out soon, I will put the podcast files in www.chinese-central.co.uk soon.

Great! It worked. Thanks. I like it very much - I’ve been living in Hong Kong for many years and have a fair command of Cantonese - but I lack the grammatical structure and form, having learnt mainly from eavesdropping on friends and colleagues. Cantonese is a great language - I look forward to many more podcasts from you. Keep it up.

Great. What sort of topics/grammar points do you guys like?

I would like to learn basic sentence structures. Giving directions. Describing ones job and home environment. Describing the weather. Tenses. I have been listening to the first podcast again and again, and it is really well done. The enunciation is precise and the tones are clear. Can’t wait to learn more.

hi,
thank you for the first lesson. I really hope that there are more to come, and i would be grateful if you could choose all kinds of different topics…perhaps make it similar to chinesepod.
Thank you again!

Hey, I accidentally found your Cantonese lessons… I must admit, It was amazing to listen to Cantonese on my puter instead of out on the street (I live in Macau)… I know the basics, I mean, I can understand 60% of a conversation… but I can’t speak it bcoz I can’t remember the connectors or the right words… Oh well.. I’m really loving your lessons!
Keep it up

Hey, I’m already pretty fluent in Mandarin, but you, and Eason Chan’s music, have inspired me to learn Cantonese. It really is a cool language. Thanks.

Listeners can get this onto their iPod by recording the audio with audacity or any other sound recorder, and then saving it as an mp3 file. There are some other good Cantonese lessons at http://www.learnchineseez.com/lessons/cantonese/ as well.
